The Nationals

I went to the Nationals meet, in Irvine, where swimmers, all around the country, swim to qualify for the Pan Pacific championship in Hawaii. First we had auto graphs from Whitney Meyers, Ariana Kukors, and Amanda Beard. It felt pretty special getting an autograph from a famous swimmer; they were my first autographs too.

The 100 freestyle was awesome. There were a lot of famous swimmers, such as Garret Weber-Gale, Ryan Lochte, Nathan Adrian, and Jason Lezak. Jason Lezak was the favorite in the group. Everyone was silent. Then the buzzer went off. The whole crowd erupted in to cheers the Reporter kept on telling us to scream louder. At the flags it was anybodies race. Then Nathan Adrian dived in to the wall and won, Ryan Lochte second, and Jason Lezak third.

The 200 IM was awesome. The heat had Michael Phelps, Tyler Clary, and Ryan Lochte. They stepped onto the blocks. Take your marks, the buzzer went off. Expectedly Phelps took the lead in the butterfly; he looked like he wasn’t even trying. It was amazing. On the backstroke leg, Ryan Lochte was ahead in the underwater, and then Michael caught up. At the middle of the breaststroke leg, Ryan took the lead. He kept on going. He led by 2/3 of a body length. Then he finished. He beat Michael Phelps by one body length.

This Nationals meet was really awesome. The Woolet pool totally changed. The Blocks turned nicer. The Benches were 10 times taller. There was a big screen showing the swim and everything. Even the interview!! The lights loomed high in the sky, shining on the pool. It was awesome!
